Introduction

Despite his scintillating performance on Mount Carmel, Elijah may not rest on his Laurels. Jezebel is after him and has sent her henchmen to run him out of town. His fortunes have been reversed and he is now fleeing for his life. In his wanderings he reaches the mountain of revelation and witnesses a dramatic theophany reminiscent of Moses' revelation at Mount Horeb.
